Title: Imagining Data with ggplot2

Abstract: ggplot2 is a R package plotting system, based on the Wilkinson's grammar of graphics. It can be useful for exploring data, and also for polishing the plots for publication. The goal of the talk is to introduce this package so the audience can know its usefulness and its weakness.

After a brief overview of Bertin's graphic model and the Wilkinson's grammar of graphics, I will introduce the layered based system: the characteristics of the input variables, the statements of the code, the graphical objects that can be plotted and the tools for polishing the output. Then, code samples and derived plots will be analyzed. Finally we will end the session with a discussion on the potential use of ggplot2 in psychology research.
