Title: If Plan B works, it might just be your Plan A: Non-academic career options for students with a PhD in quantitative psychology.
Abstract: Why do we use expressions like “Plan B” when we talk about non-academic job opportunities? Why are career paths that aren’t tenure track positions considered failures by so many of us? Why does interest in a non-academic position need to be the elephant in the room (or in this case the lab)? The truth is that there are more Ph.D. graduates than there are faculty positions and so it is entirely reasonable, if not necessary, to look for options and consider opportunities outside academia - and there are many! This talk will take the audience through my journey from academia to industry and my realization that Plan B was actually my Plan A.
